The ASP8024-HE is a modular, in-line analogue recording console designed by David Dearden. The Heritage Edition revises the original ASP8024 with new features. Each channel strip has long and short faders, so separate record and monitor balances can be set on one strip, and the four-band EQ can be split across both faders. That allows mic inputs and DAW returns to be equalised at the same time.
Channels use the Audient discrete Class-A mic preamp. The mix bus section includes a VCA bus compressor with a gain reduction VU meter and a Bass Expand sidechain high-pass filter. The Retro Iron mix bus option adds an American-style output amplifier, a British output transformer, and Low Bump and High Lift tone shaping with four modes, switched from the master fader section. Routing is one knob per function, with no menus.
The monitor section covers artist communication with remote talkback, an extra engineer headphone output, source selection and speaker control. Each standard channel has a mic input, line input, tape input and two send/return connections. With the patchbay module, some of these move to the patchbay. The Patchbay, Dual Layer Control and Producers Desk modules can be added through the online console builder.
