The DL-A110 is a low-output moving coil cartridge made in Japan to mark Denon's 110th anniversary. It is built around the long-running DL-103 design, with coil wire that is handspun at Denon's Audio Works Factory in Shirakawa.
It is supplied with a silver-graphite headshell, which is an exact reproduction of the headshell Denon developed in the 1960s for radio broadcast use. The cartridge is quoted at 0.25 mV output voltage, a 14 ohm output impedance, a 20 Hz to 45 kHz frequency range and a weight of 8.5 g.
As a moving coil design it needs a phono preamp or turntable input that supports MC cartridges. Denon's support answers for this cartridge family recommend a 100 ohm setting on an adjustable MC phono stage, and note that an MM input can also be tried for comparison. The cartridge is sold with a certificate of authenticity signed off by Denon's head engineer and a 5-year warranty that excludes the stylus.
