Chora 826-D is a loudspeaker designed for Dolby Atmos playback. Besides its normal drivers, it carries a dedicated full-range driver that reproduces the height effects of Atmos soundtracks, so a separate ceiling speaker is not needed for those effects.
This extra driver sits on the top of the cabinet and is angled to point the sound towards the ceiling. The sound is reflected back down to the listening position, which creates the impression of overhead sound and a more enveloping film soundtrack.
The speaker is offered in a black finish. Within Focal's range it sits alongside other models, including the Theva line, which has its own Dolby Atmos floor-standing model, the Theva N°3-D.
