The 8340A is a compact two-way active monitor with a die-cast aluminium enclosure, a reflex port and a Directivity Control Waveguide around the tweeter. Each driver has its own 150 W Class D amplifier and active crossover. It reaches 38 Hz to 22 kHz (-6 dB), with a short-term maximum SPL of 110 dB or more and a stated frequency response accuracy of ±1.5 dB from 45 Hz to 20 kHz.
As part of the Smart Active Monitor (SAM) range, it works with Genelec's GLM software for level, distance delay and room response compensation using AutoCal 2. Calibration needs either the 9320A SAM Reference Controller or the GLM Calibration Kit, both sold separately. Settings can be stored in the monitor itself. Other features include Intelligent Signal Sensing standby, driver protection circuitry and an Iso-Pod stand that allows a ±15° tilt.
The monitor has a balanced analogue XLR input, an AES/EBU digital XLR input and a digital XLR output or thru connection. Two RJ45 ports carry the GLM network. A wide range of stands and wall, ceiling, truss and flush mounts is available as accessories.
