The Cadenza Blue is one of five moving-coil cartridges in Ortofon's Cadenza series, each with its own sonic character. Within the range it is positioned for more dynamics, resolution and openness, and for reproducing fine detail.
The stylus is a nude FG70 diamond with a 6/70 tip radius, carried on a thin ruby cantilever. The coils are wound from 6NX (99.9999 %) pure silver wire, and a revised armature winding process is intended to improve channel balance, which is specified at under 1.2 dB. Output is 500 μV at 1 kHz, with a recommended tracking force of 2.5 g.
The body is made from aluminium and stainless steel in a blue and black finish, weighs 10.7 g and uses a half-inch mount. Being a low-output moving-coil design, it needs a phono stage with a suitable load setting; the recommended load impedance is 50–200 Ohm.
