The DDJ-200 is a lightweight two-channel controller with a layout modelled on professional equipment. It is meant for newcomers who want to learn mixing and possibly move from a hobby toward more serious DJing. It connects to a smartphone, tablet, PC or Mac and works with rekordbox, WeDJ, djay and edjing Mix on selected devices.
The WeDJ for iPhone app adds a Tutorial and Pop-Hint feature that explains the controls and common DJ terms. Its Transition FX offers 11 effect styles, applied by moving the crossfader to the other side. All WeDJ for iPhone features that normally need in-app payments are free to use with this controller. Phrase Sync analyses two tracks and aligns their positions so the switch between them sounds natural.
Streaming through Beatport, SoundCloud, TIDAL and Beatsource is possible depending on the app and device combination; WeDJ for Android does not support streaming. Sound comes from the audio outputs of the connected device, so no speakers need to be brought along. A split output lets the master sound go to speakers while the next track is cued on headphones, using split cables. The unit can be powered from an external battery.
