Headlight

The Headlight is a unity-gain guitar amp selector sized to fit on a pedalboard. A single selector footswitch steps through up to four amplifier outputs in sequence, and bright LEDs show which amp is active. A second footswitch mutes the signal for silent tuning, and it can instead be set to an all-on mode that runs all four outputs together.

The input has a class-A buffer and Drag Control load correction, which lets the player adjust impedance to suit their pickups and approximate the feel of plugging straight into an amp. Each output is isolated with a custom transformer to reduce hum and buzz from ground loops, and ground lift switches are provided for further noise control.

Typical uses include switching between four stage amps for different tones, working as an ABY box with two amps (with all-on engaged to play both at once), or feeding a mix of direct boxes and amplifiers so the DI feeds go to the mixer while the amps are miked.
