The CD-RW900MKII records CD-DA discs onto CD-R and CD-RW media, including high-speed CD-RW, and plays back CD-DA, data CDs and MP3 files. Input level is set with independent controls, and a digital volume covers −∞ and −54.0 dB to 18.0 dB. Recording tools include fade-in and fade-out, sync recording that starts and stops at a preset level, automatic, manual and time-based track division, rec-mute, a track-count limit, and erase and unfinalize functions for CD-RW discs.
Playback offers continuous, single, program and random modes, A-B repeat, fade-in and fade-out, auto-cue, auto-ready, and a timer function that needs an external timer. Pitch can be varied by ±16% and key shifted from b6 to #6 on CD-DA. CD-text editing is supported, and a PS/2 keyboard can be connected for remote control or entering titles.
Connections are RCA unbalanced analog in and out, coaxial and optical S/PDIF digital in and out, a 6.3 mm headphone output and a Mini DIN keyboard port. A sampling rate converter brings 32 to 48 kHz digital sources to 44.1 kHz. The unit uses a tray-loading drive, includes a wireless remote and a detachable AC cable, and fits 2U of rack space. The CD-RW901MKII variant adds balanced XLR and AES/EBU connections and control ports.
