U-44
The U-44 is a compact 4-in/4-out USB audio interface for recording and playback at up to 24-bit/96 kHz. It suits home recordists, mobile and field recordists, and DJs or live performers who want bus, battery or AC power and support for Zoom's interchangeable input capsules.

The U-44 is a handheld audio interface with two combo mic/line inputs, each with its own gain knob and multi-colour level indicator. Input 1 supports Hi-Z for passive guitars and basses, and inputs 1 and 2 can supply +48V phantom power. It uses mic preamps of the type found in Zoom's H5 and H6 Handy Recorders.
Outputs include three TRS phone jacks, RCA L/R line outputs, a headphone output with its own volume control, and S/PDIF in and out on optical and coaxial connectors. MIDI In/Out on 5-pin DIN jacks allows synchronisation with keyboards, controllers and sound modules. A direct monitor knob blends input and computer playback signals in the headphone mix, and the outputs of channels A and B can be muted, which helps with DJ cueing or click-track monitoring.
It connects to Windows and Mac computers over USB 2.0, and to iPhone or iPad with Apple's camera adapter. Power comes from USB bus power, an optional AC adapter or two AA batteries. A 10-pin connector accepts six Zoom interchangeable input capsules, and the unit can also run standalone as a mic preamp and AD/DA converter at 44.1 or 48 kHz. Ableton Live Lite is included.
