The DT 990 Edition (600 ohms) is a circumaural, open-back stereo headphone designed for listening at home. The open construction lets outside noise through while giving a broad, spacious presentation. The tuning has pronounced treble and strong bass, which suits rock and pop in particular.
The headband is flexible and fitted with aluminium yokes, with a soft clamping force of roughly 2.8 N. The velour ear pads are breathable and are intended for long sessions without much heat build-up. The model is hand-built in Germany, and its parts and replacement components are kept available, so worn pads and other items can be exchanged.
Connection is wired through a straight cable ending in a 3.5 mm mini-jack plug, with a 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) adapter included. The 600 ohm impedance is the high-impedance version of the DT 990 Edition and is typically identified by a 600 Ω stamp on the plug shaft. It has no remote or microphone.
