The SPD::ONE ELECTRO is a small metal-bodied pad that triggers 22 internal instrument sounds, among them snares, hi-hats, hand claps and electronic cowbells drawn from Roland's TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines. Sounds are organised in 12 banks, selected with a rotary switch, and one user sample slot accepts a WAV file of up to five seconds.
Control is limited to a few knobs. Separate dials set trigger threshold and sensitivity, while the front panel handles instrument selection, tuning, an FX amount for reverb or delay, and overall volume. An instrument variation button switches between alternate versions of a sound. Imported samples can be tuned and processed with the same controls as the internal sounds.
The pad runs on four AA batteries or an optional AC adaptor, and can sit on a floor or table or be clamped to a hi-hat, cymbal, tom or mic stand with the supplied adaptor. A mono main output and a stereo headphone output are provided. A Micro-B USB port serves both as a MIDI connection for controlling software in a DAW and as mass storage for copying samples to the unit.
